MEMORY FOAM: MDI, VOC, and Deodorization

Healthy Memory Foam?

A healthy sleeping environment should be maintained even during sleep.

Oleesleep's memory foam uses 100% MDI.
Polyurethane foam, commonly used in mattresses, is typically produced using TDI. Mattresses made with TDI-based foam may contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can sometimes emit an unpleasant odor.

Oleesleep has minimized the emission of VOCs by using 100% MDI in its memory foam. Additionally, after manufacturing the memory foam, Ollie applies a special deodorization process to further remove the distinctive odor of polyurethane foam.

  • TDI(Toluene diisocyanate)

volatile, viscous, and highly tear-resistant substance.

  • MDI(Methylene diisocyanate)

Methylene. It plays a similar role to TDI,                                                              but is less harmful in the  manufacturing process                                                and for consumers when in use.

Is it true that memory foam often emits a strong odor?

Have you ever experienced a strange smell from your mattress?

Even if the mattress has low VOC levels or no detectable radon, harmful substances may still remain in the mattress due to the use of chemicals in its production process.

So, how can we effectively remove these harmful substances without compromising our health?

The answer is to carry out deodorization processes to release VOCs into the air. Harmful substances need to be exposed to the air for an extended period to be removed, and only then can the odor be eliminated and the harmful substances deemed to be eliminated.

However, in the case of "Mattress in a box" products commonly found in the market, they are immediately packed after production for ease of shipping, which means that VOCs may not be 100% removed, resulting in unpleasant odors.

This is the difference between a "mattress in a box" and an oleesleep mattress.
We carry out separate deodorization processes on each layer that makes up the mattress and ensure that even the adhesive layer is free of VOCs in the final product.

This is Oleesleep's effort to eliminate harmful substances as much as possible.
